For decades, Ariane, Nirari, and Semiramis have gathered resources and allies. Now, they set their pieces on the board for the final confrontation. With the powers of diplomacy and high explosives on her side, Ariane will allow nothing, not demigods, or ancient evils, or liches from another world, or even flaming pigs, nothing, to stand in her way.
The end of the journey is here.
Life as an apex predator of the night provides many diversions, such as rescuing relatives from The Mexican-American war, attending auctions, and eating the occasional mortal. Ariane cannot forget that a shadow extends over her budding empire, however, that of her ancient madman of a sire. There will be a reckoning, and she will be ready, even if she has to scour the world from the shores of Texas to the Mediterranean sea. To slay the unkillable, one must be prepared to shed some blood, including one's own.
Trapped! Tricked! Betrayed! Ariane finds herself stuck in the fae spheres, away from Earth and its ongoing vampire war. The many worlds of the fae defy her understanding while death lurks at every corner. She is not the apex predator here. Where there is danger, there is opportunity as well, however. Ariane is still unable to match her sire Nirari, the millennia old monster. In the fae spheres, she might find the strength to bridge that gap and give her world a chance, but can her guide be trusted? After all, he is the one who closed the way home in the first place…
Ariane has finally adjusted to her new life as a vampire, hidden away from her kin in the Georgian countryside. She can now set her eyes on her next pursuit: her return to society as a rightful, free entity. Regaining her freedom will not be easy, however. Beyond the issues of cutthroat vampire politics, the protection of her territory will also bring surprising challenges. She will have to face them with the help of the friends she gathered around her: Loth the burly smith and scholar, her sassy human vassal Dalton and the Choctaw seer Nashoba. It will take that much, for the world is old and there are many ancient threats waiting to be unearthed.
Ariane has found refuge in Illinois, and now plans her rightful return to vampire society. She must stay in control while hiding in nature, while foes old and new converge on her territory.
Ariane has come a long way since she was first made a vampire at the turn of the nineteenth century. Now she has territory, status, and a newly-made soul weapon courtesy of her lover Torran. Her little outing in Europe has been pleasant so far, but now trouble brews on the horizon. Her old friend and mentor Loth of Skorrag has asked for her help. Ariane is off to Sweden to find out what troubles the grumpy king of the Dvergur, and what machinations hide behind the schemes of ambitious nobles. After all, it has been some time since the last vampire war.
As a young, up and coming apex predator of the night, Ariane needs the minions, a territory, dubious allies with unknown agendas... From Alexandria to the frozen north, opportunities and danger abound. Fortunately, Ariane has many tools at her disposal and if everything fails, there is always black powder.
It has now been more than sixty years since Ariane became a vampire. With her position secure as a member of the Midnight Accords and her fief prosperous, she should be safe and preparing for the future. Unfortunately, her powers are going haywire. Intense bursts of essence are leaving her exhausted. It is time to fulfill her promise to her blood sister Jimena by joining the knights, the only organization that could teach her the discipline she needs to overcome this hurdle. As the guardians of order for vampire-kind, the knights are as powerful as they are dangerous. Their ranks count famed blade masters but also some old enemies. Ariane will have to tread carefully because not even they are immune to politics.
After decades of efforts and bloodshed (mostly from her victims), Ariane has finally succeeded in un-life. She has a cozy vampire government job overseeing racial relations with pesky mages and tasty werewolves, a domain in Illinois, her own weapon manufacturing company… Things are looking up!
Her recent foray into Europe to serve with the Vampire Knights may have ended in disaster after one of their officers tried to murder her, but fortunately, she rose to the rank of Lady and can now return with her honor intact alongside her newly ascended sister Jimena.
Now it appears some daring insects were trying to take over her lands while she was away. The audacity! Alongside some spring cleaning, Ari will have to contend with uppity godlings and also possibly freeing the entire fae race from captivity.
It will all be worth it if she gets to wear pants.
After three decades of hiding, Ariane is ready to take her place as a respected member of the American vampire society, or so she hopes. The aristocracy of the night enjoys games. Schemes already abound from enemies old and new, but Ariane is not alone and she is not the naive girl she once was.
A conversation with a handsome stranger leaves Ariane chained in a cellar with a strange affliction. She soon discovers that the darkness of the nineteenth century’s Deep South hides many dangers. Mages, wolf shifters and the humans who hunt them play a risky game where to stumble is to die, all under the amused gaze of the apex predators of the supernatural world: vampires. It is never healthy to attract the gaze of the aristocracy of the night, but for Ariane, it is too late.
It takes much to survive in this merciless world, but she will not let that deter her. The southern belle has a bite, and she is willing to learn and to grow in this hostile new world. She will use whatever means necessary to reclaim her freedom, be it guile, charm, or those intriguing new instincts that make blood so delectable.
